first try char kuey teow in penang
I am a penang guy that lives in the other side of penang which is butterworth. At the age of 10, that was the first time i went to penang and thats when i first get to taste the best food in all malaysia. The first food that i had ate in penang was the famous char keuy teow in lorong selamat. I have a very deep impression about the restaurant. there was a aunty with a red hat on her head and the restaurant was full of people and i and my father was so lucky that a person was done eating and let us his place for us to sit down and wait for our food to be served . I was so exited when i was waiting for the char keuy teow because of the smell of it and i already know it will be a good experience eating the dish.
Although the restaurant was full of customers, but the chef manage to hand us over the char kuey teow with extra big prawn that we requested her to add on . the plate was full of black and brown colour kuey teow, with the smells of charcoal, abit of tao ge on it, i was impressed with such a simple dish but it bring the penang culture and joy to people through it . my first attempt, the kuey teow melt through my mouth ,it was so smooth and the taste of charcoal mixed with the lkuey teow filled up my mouth perfectly, i was in heaven when i took my first shot, food heaven, i finally knew why people from all around the world would spent their money and time just to come to penang to try out our local foods, because it was so delicious. Besides that, the big prawn is so juicy that when i bite it i can tell its juice just splitted out of it. It was such a good experience and i would like to go again.
